This will be an interesting matchup mainly because New York will be starting their back QB, Joe Flacco. Now Flacco and Darnold differ in a multitude of different ways. The first being mobility. Sam is known for extending plays with his feet, giving his wide receivers more time to get open, where Flacco is the traditional “pocket passer”. It will be interesting to see if the offense changes and has a different look to it with the former Super Bowl champ at the helm. Flacco brings an ability to push the football down the field which is something the Jets have not had in quite some time.
As far as the defense is concerened, it will be a major challenge trying to stop this high flying Arizona offense. I think the main thing Gregg Williams and this defense has to focus on is keeping Kyler Murray contained and in the pocket. When Murray gets going, the Cards offense is tough to stop. Keep an eye on bringing Marcus Maye into the box and having him be a QB spy making sure Kyler doesn’t get to extend the play. Another interesting point is that the Jets let Kliff Kingsbury walk out of the door back in 2019 and ownership opted for ex- Miami Dolphin head coach Adam Gase instead. The Jets have been a train wreck ever since they brought Adam Gase into the building
