A Former Tiger (LSU) to keep an eye on is wide receiver, Ja’Marr Chase. Interestingly enough the last time Chase took a snap on the football field was with Joe Burrow as his quarterback as the top-ranked WR opted out of the 2020-21 season due to concerns regarding the COVID-19 virus. Still, a year off the field and Chase has been regarded as the best WR prospect out of college since the Falcons drafted Julio Jones No. 6 overall in 2011.
Although it may be premature to say this, Chase could take the league by storm if he is on the right offense. We saw his former LSU teammate, Justin Jefferson break the rookie receiving yards record last year with the Vikings. Will Chase do the same? Perhaps not, however, if he was to come close to doing so, Cincinnati would be the place to see him go. I totally understand why the Bengals may be intrigued to select Oregon’s Penei Sewell at No. 5 because it makes sense to solidify your offensive line, especially with Burrow is coming off a torn ACL. However, I’m going to stick with my gut and say Chase will be the first wideout off the board as the chemistry these two shared at LSU speaks for itself. Regardless, the point is the Bengals will most certainly get Burrow help to have that be on the O-Line or another weapon downfield.
