Damon “Snacks” Harrison made news when he announced that he would indeed play football this year. The former All Pro DT already has a ton of suitors lined up for his services after he last played for the Detroit Lions. One of those suitors includes the Chicago Bears. The Bears lost their star nose tackle Eddie Goldman after Goldman decided to opt out of the 2020 NFL season. That left a big hole in the middle of the Bears defense and after two weeks, the impact of not having Goldman out there is already being felt.
The Chicago Bears run defense just hasn’t been great through two weeks as they allowed Adrian Peterson to have a productive rushing day on them and if Saquon Barkley hadn’t gotten hurt, then he might have had a good day as well. In fact, Saquon’s back up Dion Lewis even scored a touchdown. The Bears know that they must address the DT position in the hopes of improving their run game and they hope Snacks Harrison can fill that void. Harrison will begin his visits with teams, starting with the Seattle Seahawks first but he will then make his way to the Chicago Bears. In fact, Bears RB Cordarrelle Patterson has already reached out to Harrison via twitter to confirm that the DT would in fact visit the Bears and Harrison confirmed that a visit would be set up.
It looks like the Bears are in the mix along with the Seahawks, Packers and Bengals. The deciding factor may be money for Harrison as he could just sign with whoever offers him the most, but it could be about which team(s) he feels have a real shot at winning and so far the Bears are 2-0 so that could be enticing to him.
