Denver Broncos Free Agents
As of now, the only player of the Denver Broncos free agents that will be staying a Bronco no matter what is S Justin Simmons who was franchise tagged.
The Broncos poses a team option for OLB Von Miller and S Kareem Jackson that they will have to decide whether or not to exercise by March 16th. As of now, it looks like both will be back with the team.
The Broncos have placed 2nd round tenders on LB Alexander Johnson and WR Tim Patrick, and have also rendered RB Phillip Lindsay but the level of the tender is unclear as of now. If the Broncos place a second-round tender on him, the Broncos will be required to pay him roughly $3.5m, and if another team wants to sign him they will have to give a 2nd round pick to the Broncos. If the Broncos elect to place an original round tender on him, the team will be required to pay him money in the $2.5m range and if another team signs him they won’t have to forfeit any picks at all. In both cases, if another team offers a restricted free agent a contract, the Broncos will have the opportunity to match that offer and bring the player back, meaning the team will have the opportunity to keep the player if they want, no matter what.
As for the unrestricted Broncos free agents, I think that the team definitely tries to re-sign Shelby Harris and probably Will Parks as well. I would also like to see DL Demarcus Walker and key special teamer Joseph Jones back with the team. Jeremiah Attaochu is also a great depth pass rusher at OLB.
Tomorrow, Monday (3/15), the legal free agent tampering period begins. Players and teams can begin to negotiate contracts.
Tuesday (3/16), Deadline for the Broncos to pick up options on Von Miller and Kareem Jackson.
Wednesday (3/17), the new league year begins. All trades and free agency signings can become official.
