The Seahawks have only one game left in the 2020 regular season, and have an opportunity to secure the 1 seed with some help in the NFC bracket… While it is unlikely that Green Bay and New Orleans both lose to inferior divisional opponents, Seattle has an opportunity to finish the season strong, and have a winning record within the division. Besides, when is it a bad time to beat the 49ers??? Here is how the Seahawks can get it done on Sunday:
The 49ers ran ALL OVER the Cardinals last week, chalking up 227 yards on the ground in a 20-12 upset victory. San Francisco has been run-first the entire Kyle Shanahan era at head coach, stopping it always the top priority for opposing defenses. Stop the run and the pass game follows.
Seattle is the better team in this matchup. The Seahawks have always prioritized winning the turnover battle, ever since Pete Carroll began his tenure as head coach. Seattle won the turnover battle last week versus the Rams and won the ballgame as a result. If Seattle wins the turnover battle, San Francisco will need a miracle to finish on top of the scoreboard on Sunday. Do not let mental errors be the difference in this ballgame.
San Francisco has scored more than 30 points only 4 times all season… By scoring greater than 30 points on Sunday, Seattle is practically guaranteeing a victory before the game is even over. Pete Carroll has already made it clear that Seattle is going for it all this week, not resting starters heading into the playoffs. What better way to make a statement about going for it than to fix your struggling offense, and to score greater than 30 points against a red-hot head coaching candidate, and former Seahawks Defensive Quality Control Coach Robert Saleh. Send a message to the entire NFC by putting up a monstrous number against an elite defense.
It is easy to overlook this game having just clinched the division against the Rams this past weekend… But the 49ers are a team that is playing to upset divisional rivals, despite being eliminated from playoff contention weeks ago. George Kittle did not have to return from his injury once the 49ers were eliminated, but he did so to send a message to the entire NFL about the work ethic in San Francisco. The 49ers are going for it, is Seattle up for the challenge.
