Nick Mullens is more than capable to run this offense
THE RISE OF A PHOENIX
This week the NBN crew discussing the match up with the Giants and moving forward. With some a few starters returning, what will the coaching staff do to take on the Eagles at Levi Stadium.
NEXT MAN UP
As we saw this week, we had several new faces in the starting lineup, but that didn’t seem to affect the team’s production. Many fans were so impressed with Nick Mullens, they are ready to keep Jimmy Garoppolo on the bench. While it is unclear if Jimmy will be ready next Sunday, we have seen this from Mullens before. During the 2018 season with the debut of Mullens on Thursday Night Football, he amassed a stat line of 16/22, 262 yds, 3 TD and no interceptions. The next week against the Giants he went 27/39, 250 yds, 1 TD and 2 interceptions. Through the remainder of the season he went 133/203 for 1765 yds, 9 TDs and 8 interceptions. I’m not saying he would do that again, but fans should contain their expectations and realize that Jimmy Garoppolo is the team’s starting Quarterback.
NEW STARTER PLAYERS
Following the two injury plagued games the team returns to Levi Stadium like a phoenix rising from the ash. Jason Verrett came in looking like a man possessed and with the exit of both Moseley and Witherspoon, I have concerns with the secondary going into this week’s game. This week we also saw Azeez Al-Shaair start in place of Dre Greenlaw and he held his own. The defensive line had stand out plays by Dion Jordan and Kerry Hyder. Javon Kinlaw is developing more and more each week. If he can continue, he will make his argument for Defensive Rookie of the Year. Also getting his season debut was Brandon Aiyuk would put on quite the performance and even run into the endzone untouched.
MOVING FORWARD
While Tight End Jordan Reed will join the Injured Reserve, George Kittle is looking ready to return. This week we have already seen Deebo Samuel activated from the IR which will bolster a depleted Wide Receiver group. It is too early in to know if Jimmy will be back this week, but whoever the Quarterback, the teams is in good hands against a struggle Eagles team. Do not lose heart Faithful, the team was built with depth in mind and we shall continue to persevere.
