The Philadelphia Eagles welcome Nick Sirianni as the new head coach of the franchise. With this signing officially complete, clarity and direction of where the Eagles are heading in 2021 are becoming more transparent. Some may argue that with this signing, Carson Wentz will automatically be the starting quarterback rolling into week 1. Some believe that the original goal of signing a coach was to fix Carson Wentz. Both ideas appear logical as the Philadelphia Eagles have invested greatly into Carson Wentz. His contract extends until 2024.
With Carson Wentz’s clear regression in 2020, some fans may wonder if there should be a quarterback competition. With the emergence of Jalen Hurts, I’m definitely more on the side of “may the best man win”. Understanding how the Eagles approached their coaching search with a will to fix Carson, they may have found their man in Nick Sirianni.
This signing was a first of many to come for the Philadelphia Eagles. Next up, locate a Defensive Coordinator. Questions arise if Nick Sirianni will have an offensive coordinator. In my opinion, with Nick Sirrani being a first time head coach, it naturally makes sense to surround him with an Offensive Coordinator to help with play calling duties. Let the offensive coodinator search begin.
Other things to consider with the signing of Nick have also begun speculation of what may happen with running backs coach and fan favorite Duce Staley. Understanding the value Duce has brought to the city of Philadelphia is irreplaceable. The Eagles front office did not promote Duce to the Head Coach position which provides the follow up question: what does Duce do from here?
There are so many questions the Philadelphia Eagles still need to answer. One thing is for sure, this team will look completely different in 2021 and leading that effort will be Nick Sirianni. Welcome to the city of brotherly love.
