Here we go again, another week and another big name on defense that the Raiders could be interested in. There is no secret that the Raiders struggled to get to the quarterback in 2020, with only 21 sacks. The 4th fewest in the NFL.
Last week, a report came out saying that the Denver Broncos might move on from their former Super-Bowl MVP, Von Miller. Obviously with that news in mind, the Raidernation voiced their interest in possibly acquiring the All-Pro pass rusher.
One fan in particular, Portland Trailblazer All-Star and long-time Raiders fan Damian Lillard chimed in tweeting, “I know the raiders better go get Von Miller.”
Which begs the question: Should the Raiders consider signing Von Miller?
The simple answer for most fans should be yes, but it’s not that simple. The Broncos first need to make a huge decision on whether they would want to keep or cut Miller.
Not only that, If Miller were to hit the open market, how much would it cost to bring him over to the entertainment capitol of world? The Raiders would also keep into account his age, 32, and the fact that Miller is coming off of a season ending injury in 2020.
Now even with all of that in mind, I do believe Von Miller still has some solid years left in the tank and the Raiders young defense could definitely benefit from Von’s veteran leadership. Though, he initially plays as a 3-4 OLB, I do think that Gus Bradley would be able to utilize him in some way. Heck, anybody with a pulse could help our 30th ranked defense.
