Fans and media are all in speculation if the New York Giants should be buyers or sellers in 2020. It’s fair at this point to really wonder what the Giants should do but the answers are very simple.
Kenny Golladay has been rumored to gain interest of the New York Giants who desperately need any type of WR help. ESPN’s Jordan Ranaan reported 2 days ago that the Giants have talked to the Detroit Lions about the star receiver but the talks never materialized. This would just simply be a bad move for the Giants. In rebuilding time of the franchise, this team just can’t afford a WR who is on his contract year. The Giants are projected to have just 21 million dollars in cap next year. I know most will say “Let’s just trade Golden Tate”, now let me tell you why that’s also a bad idea.
Golden Tate has been the most consistent WR on the Giants roster this season although he missed the first game of the season, he has been Daniel Jones’ most reliable weapon in 2020. If the Giants really want to see if Daniel Jones is “the guy”, then they have to give him weapons to help him succeed. Trading Tate will hurt Jones’ growth and confidence as the depth at receiver other than Tate battle just to get on the field.
Daniel Jones will surely fail without Golden Tate as Darius Slayton hasn’t been able to pick up where he left off last year on a consistent level and also has been on the injury report a couple times this season. We don’t even need to talk about Sterling Shepard and his injury issues, CJ Board is dealing with neck injury and Alex Mack is a undrafted free agent who has 1 catch for 1 yard. So who will Jones rely on to catch the ball?
