The main reason for that has been inconsistency, not only in the way they played but in coaching as well. The organization hopes they found their “Franchise” coach in Mike Vrabel. He has brought a winning attitude to Nashville. This year has been a little different in many facets. The titans finally got over the 9-7 curse and have the most explosive offense in franchise history. On the flip side, they also have had one of the worse defenses in Franchise history. Defense Defense Defense…If you are a Titans fan this year then you definitely know the problems they’ve had on defense. They have managed to achieve one of the worst 3rd down defenses in NFL history. It’s a miracle that this team has 10 wins. No other team in the NFL’s existence had a season better than 9 victories when over the 50 percent mark on third-down defense. Also, the pass rush is practically non-existent. They have only recorded 15 sacks on the season. Opposing quarterbacks have had all day to throw the football. Offense Offense Offense…The offense has been setting franchise records all season long. The big 4 which includes Ryan Tannehill, Derrick Henry, AJ Brown, and Corey Davis have managed to score over 30 points a game. Jonnu Smith, when healthy, has been vital too. There has been some inconsistency though. When the offense is not clicking, they lose. The offense and Derrick Henry will be needed more than ever for the Titans to make a long playoff run. The defense has proven they can not be relied upon this season. Can the Magic Happen Again?Last season, the whole league was blown away by Derrick Henry’s performance in the playoffs. He carried this team to the AFC championship game. This year, the offense has been more balanced. Ryan Tannehill only needs two touchdown passes to break the single-season franchise record, currently held by Warren Moon at 33. The Titans have a chance today to win the AFC South for the 1st time since 2008. Earlier in the season, Deshaun Watson put up over 300 yd and 4 touchdowns against the Titans. He will start today. Division and Playoff Hopes on the Line.Tennessee faces a familiar situation today. If they pull out a victory, they will win the division. If they lose, they could possibly be sent home packing depending on how other games play out. This team has a lot to play for. Some might say, the Texans have nothing to play for but I’m sure they would love to knock the Titans out of the playoffs. It will be interesting this see how they bounce back from last week’s loss in the snow. Will the Titans make history today or will it be all for not?
