The Tennessee Titans took down the Jaguars on Sunday 33-30 to go to 2-0. However, should we worry about the Titan’s defense going forward? After trailing 24-10, Jacksonville outscored Tennessee 20-9 in the second half. Minshew threw for over 300 yards, while Robinson went over the century mark. Both Adoree Jackson and Vic Beasley continue to miss games.
Ryan Tannehill has started right where he left off from last season. So far, Tannehill has six touchdowns and no interceptions. The former Miami Dolphin has thrown for almost 500 yards and has only been sacked twice. Derrick Henry had a tough time finding yards on Sunday, but Tannehill kept the Titans offense going. Tannehill passed Mariota for most consecutive games throwing at least two touchdown passes in a game.
The Titan’s defense has been somewhat a mystery in the first two games. Week 1 at Denver, the Titans held the Broncos to 14 points. In Week 2, Tennessee had trouble stopping Jacksonville all day. Kristian Fulton and Harold Landry both had huge interceptions that eventually won the game. The Jaguars were over 70% on third down that kept them in it. How much will Adoree Jackson and Vic Beasley improve the defense? One could say the Titans are transitioning the best they can from Dean Pees to Mike Vrabel. With no pre-season games, the defense may need some more time.
Stephen Gostkowski did miss an extra point but made a series of kicks, including a 51 yarder. When the game was on the line, Gostkowski made a kick from 49 yards. A week ago, fans were asking if the former New England Patriot would be released. The season is still early, but so far, Gostkowski has won both games on his leg at the end of the game. Winning in the NFL is never easy, but Gostkowski has come up big in late-game situations. Hopefully, this will continue throughout the season.
