Terry McLaurin stiff arms Giants Logan Ryan
Washington has a rematch against the New York Giants on Sunday that actually has playoff implications believe it or not. The two teams will be battling for a chance to stay in the NFC Least hunt. Washington lost a nail biter to the Giants just 2 weeks ago after failing a questionable two point conversion decision by Ron Rivera. The Football team is coming off a bye week and a win against the Dallas Cowboys that has helped the team gain confidence. Both teams have struggled this season but have been competitive in games. Washington is a 2.5 point favorite to win the game and they have to play mistake free football to win this game. Here are three keys to victory for the Burgundy and Gold to beat the New York Giants.
This game features two quarterbacks that are prone to turning the football over. Daniel Jones has turned the football over 34 times in 20 career games. He has earned the nickname Danny Fumbles. Daniel Jones thew 2 back breaking interceptions against the Buccaneers on Monday night that turned into points for the other team. Jones has only one game in his career that he did not turn the ball over. He is a turnover machine and has costs the Giants games by his mistakes. Washington has to capitalize off of turnovers. Kyle Allen has been a turnover machine throughout his career as well. Allen threw 17 TDs last year and 16 interceptions. He also has fumbling problem. Kyle Allen had a fumble that was returned for a touchdown against the Giants this year that put Washington down by seven points. Whoever wins the turnover battle will win this game. Washington has won the turnover battle in their two wins this year
Washington’s offense has looked better with Kyle Allen as the quarterback. Last week Allen hit Terry McLaurin for a deep touchdown pass against the Cowboys. Washington has to do more of that if they want to win this game. They have to take some deep shots down the field. Scott Turner’s offense has lacked big plays on offense so far this season. Steve Sims could be activated off of IR and add another deep wide receiver threat. The team also signed Robert Foster who ran a 4.4 40 yard dash . Washington has some speed at receiver and they have to use it to win this game. Cam Sims caught a nice twenty two yard touchdown pass the last time these two teams played. The Burgundy and Gold will have to take some chances down field to win this game.
Last time Washington played the Giants they had one sack. This defensive line is too talented to only have one sack in a game. Daniel Jones only threw the ball nineteen times last game so there weren’t many opportunities but they have to have to get to Daniel Jones to win this game. One of the few times they pressured him he threw an interception to Kendall fuller in the end zone. Keep your eyes on Chase Young and Montez Sweat. They both have to show up big in this game. Ryan Kerrigan could also make an impact.
