The Washington football team released their 1st official depth chart on Tuesday and it was full of surprises. A surprise cut of Adrian Peterson shook up the roster and made the running back position very interesting. After cutting the future hall of famer it was safe to say that Antonio Gibson would be the starter but that is not the case going into week 1.
Veteran running back J.D Mckissic was named the week 1 starting running back over Antonio Gibson. Many people we’re expecting rookie sensation Antonio Gibson to be the starter. This move may not be pretty for Fantasy Football players who picked up Antonio Gibson. Offensive Coordinator, Scott Turner also announced that Washington will have a running back by committee this season. That means that the starter really doesn’t matter as much as people think and the running backs will be sharing carries. Gibson and Mckissic will be on the field at the same time frequently. Mckissic and Gibson can play wide receiver and running back. Be ready to see these guys as dual threat players that can make home run plays. Mckissic had a great camp and Scott Turner chose to go with the veteran to help ease in the secret weapon Antonio Gibson.
Two surprises we’re at the linebacker position. Shaun Dion Hamilton was chosen to start over 3 time pro bowler Thomas Davis. Thomas Davis played for Ron Rivera when they made their super bowl run in Carolina. It was surprising to me that Ron and Jack Del Rio chose a young player to start over Davis. Shaun Dion Hamilton has played well in camp with a lot of speed. Shaun also showed flashes last year being the best coverage linebacker for Washington last season. Kevin Pierre Louis is also a surprise stater. Coaches usually say not to put much stock in the week 1 depth since it will change throughout the season.
