The blockbuster trade that sent former 1st round pick Jamal Adams from the Jets to the Seahawks made waves around the league. The Seahawks gave up two first round picks in 2021 and 2022, a 3rd round pick in 2021 AND starting strong safety Bradley McDougald to acquire the all-pro safety as well as a 4th round pick in 2022. Seahawks fans rejoiced at the news of their latest acquisition as did Jets fans who believe they got the better end of the deal.
Only time will tell how the trade will play out, but for now, Seahawks fans get to have the immediate euphoria of acquiring arguably the best strong safety in the league to start the 2020 season.
Perhaps the most excited is Jamal Adams himself. In his virtual press conference today with Seattle media, Adams expressed how excited he is to be a member of the Seahawks organization. “Honestly, I broke down in tears of joy,” Adams said. “At the end of the day, this is my calling. This is where I need to be. This is where I was placed to be.”
Adams hinted to his long term future when he said, “I’m here to stay and I’m excited to be a Seattle Seahawk.” He took a tiny jab at his old team, adding “It’s so surreal to be around a great organization like Seattle. To be coached by legendary coaches, Hall of Fame coaches.”
His excitement about his future teammates was evident, as well. “Playing with hall of famers from Russ to Bobby, K.J., Bruce Irvin, Quandre Diggs, the list goes on and on,” Adams said. “I can’t wait to get out there in front of the 12s.”
In the video above, NorbCam interviews Jets Central and gets his raw emotional reaction to losing one of his favorite players. “Jamal Adams is a stud. He’s an absolute beast. [To] every Seahawk fan watching this video, you will love Jamal Adams. You’re gonna fall in love with him.”
