2021 NFL Draft | What are the Los Angeles Rams going to do?
The Tennessee Titans have the number 22 pick tonight in the NFL draft. Jon Robinson is historically known for trading back and using a more “bang for your buck” mentality. He is a student of the “Patriot Way” and it seems like he takes that approach more often than not. The number 22 spot in the NFL draft is a precarious one. Teams often hope that their favorite player will fall a few spots and land right in their laps.
J-Rob took a chance on the infamous “Panda” in 2020 and the whole league knows how that turned out. He is not even playing football anymore, instead opting to pursue his “Rap” career. Many fans wanted a cornerback in the first round last offseason. They made up for it in the second by drafting Kristian Fulton, who many considered a “1st Round” talent.
In Tuesday’s press conference. J-Rob was talked a lot about trading down. He said: “Everybody knows we’re willing to shuffle around, Historically, we have not been afraid to shuffle picks around.” It almost seems like he is publically putting out “feelers”. This year’s draft happens to be pretty deep in some positions the Titans are in need of. Wide Receiver, Cornerback, Offensive Tackle are the top 3.
Some would say the edge position is deep this year too but I think you will have a considerable drop off after the first round. Edge rushers are a hot commodity in the NFL and they tend to go quick. There is a defensive tackle in the draft that is an intriguing prospect by the name of Milton Williams. He is being compared to Aaron Donald and could possibly slip to the second round. He is considered a little smaller for a DT but he can also play some edge as well in a 3-4 scheme.
Last season’s draft was pretty lackluster and the organization is looking to redeem themselves. Ryan Tannehill, Derrick Henry, and AJ Brown are playing the best ball of their careers and the time is now for the Titans to be contenders. Jon Robinson and Mike Vrabel have a done a good job overall the past couple of seasons but there is a lot of work to be done. They have overhauled the defense and are looking to build upon that in the draft.
The team is also in need of a solid Offensive Tackle opposite Taylor Lewan. Tevin Jenkins could be available in the first round at number 22. He is considered by some as the best OT in the draft. Wide Reciever is a necessity as well for the Titans but they could potentially pick up a good one in the second round. Elijah Moore, Terrence Marshall, or Kadarius Toney could be available then. Cornerback is also a major need again and a lot of fans are hoping Caleb Farley will be available. With all that said, Jon Robinson could trade up or trade down tonight. Let’s just hope he has a better draft than last year.
